- What's it like?...
- It's soapy-clean at
first, but as it dries down, you'll notice the
light almond oil essence which adds a twist of
muted sweetness to it.
- When to wear it...
- Anytime, but it fares
well as a politically correct office fragrance.
- How it lasted on
me...
- Surprisingly for a
light cologne, about 3/4 of a day.
- The bottle...
- A clear, square
bottle with a silver spray nozzle that twists off
for refilling or use as a splash.
- Miscellaneous
details...
- The creator of
Gendarme, Topper Schroeder, has skin that is
irritated by most colognes, so he was extremely
disappointed when his long-time favorite was
discontinued. He did what many of us would LOVE
to do, but don't have the time nor money... He
re-created it! What ended up happening though,
was that he put more thought and effort into the
formulation than the original manufacturer did ~
and voila! He ended up with a superior grade of
cologne with a high fragrance oil content of 12%,
and little touches like added glycerin solution
to replace the skin's oils lost through the
evaporation process from the fragrance alcohol.
By the way, the name Gendarme is what the French
police are called ~ hence the old tag phrase for
Gendarme, "An arresting cologne!"
- In my opinion...
- I am not fond of
"soapy" fragrances, but I am
particluarly impressed with the quality of this
cologne. It is a masterpiece for people with
sensitive skin, everything to help - nothing to
hurt.
